STEP 2: SEND IN THE CLONES!

Try not to carbon-copy an existing inner or outer senshi in either looks or personality. It's lame, it's old and it's dead boring. There is no faster way to lose an audience (and this is not just my personal opinion). Especially don't do this if your senshi is related to the original senshi you are cloning them from.

If you do decided to use the same qualities of another senshi you will have a harder time getting an audience to stay around long enough to even check out your story. I've seen many look-a-likes that where nice but still copied everything that we've all seen before. I do believe a unique and out of this world different senshi is what all fanfic readers are looking for, don't you?

STEP 3: FASHION STATEMENT

Okay, this is my personal opinion, I'll admit. But I cannot stand when so-called "experts" advise people not to make drastic changes to the senshi fuku. Make all the changes you want!!! There are ten senshi with almost exactly the same outfit - more would be boring. Make your fuku up. An interesting way would be to base your fuku on what your senshi wears in his/her/it's civilian form - the way Sailor Moon's fuku was based on her school uniform. (I've never done this, but it sounds like it could work - at the very least it's an original idea to work into your character or fanfic.)

If you are creating a team though, it is wise to keep the majority of their fukus similar to one another. This doesn't mean they have to be all that similar to the originals though ^_~

I am so for this idea, many days I run across a bishounen with the tuxedo gimmick. Believe me people it is wearing thin. Give your guys, or girls for that matter, something different. Don't be afraid to make an outfit a little more revealing then the original senshi, look at the Starlights; their outfits where considered a little slutty (not my opinion I like them actually). And if you watch the sub you will notice a lot of the SM villains wearing some awfully revealing cloths. Just remember SM is a kiddy show (well depending on your fanfic’s preference)… try to keep their cloths on if anything.

One thing to keep in mind though, if you are creating an original fuku (uniform) is that all the senshi have the sailor collar. Most also have a brooch, front bow and choker of some sort, but I think you could get away with not having them. The only exception to this rule is if your character is not a senshi at all! Since my Angel was created through a mix of science and sorcery to merely resemble a senshi, she has no bows or sailor collar.

Another recommendation is to suit your senshi's fuku to their powers or purpose. A senshi like Sailor Water, for example, won't be running around in a red fuku with sharp angles everywhere. Okay, that's the powers bit taken care of, but what do I mean by purpose? Well, to use my own senshi as an example again (sorry), since Sailor Angel is basically a good form of Dark Angel, and Dark Angel was created to kill the original senshi, she wears sharp, spiked armor. Her fuku is also very revealing as
A.) she was originally a villain,
B.) she's a good four years older than the Inners,
C.) as someone raised in America she's not as 'modest' as a Japanese girl would be.
